"Arabian Computer News' IT Managers of the Year for 2009 recognizes the difficult job done by IT personnel in the region this year. Our top ten IT managers all pursued innovation, creating new means of working where possible and finding better ways of adapting old technology.
"Paul O'Kirwan and his DME team impressed us with the speed and ease with which they deployed a new ERP system for Dubai Mercantile Exchange, and also with their active commitment to Emiratisation in the project and the team as a whole," said Mark Sutton, Group Editor, ITP Technology.

Paul O'Kirwan, Director of IT at Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME), was recognized as one of ten outstanding individuals in regional IT for 2009 by ACN.  ACN selected the award recipients on a range of criteria, including the overall impact they have had on the regional IT community, their experience with their organizations, and their ability to align business and IT needs perfectly.

Successfully installing a Great Plains ERP system in six months is no mean feat. However Paul O'Kirwan and his team member, a graduate from the UAE Higher Colleges of Technology, managed this on target and in a seamless fashion.
Innovation and excellence have been the hallmarks of this project. Combined with a can-do and motivated attitude from a team of young Emirati nationals, it is clear why Paul and the DME won this prestigious award.
