The DME's Membership structure aims to attract a mix of local,
regional and international market participants to the Exchange.
The process and criteria have been determined by the DME's
internal Membership Committee to make certain that the awarding
of memberships is conducted with maximum transparency.
In addition to applying to the DME, all members will
have to be authorised, recognised or otherwise permitted
by the
Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA),
the regulatory body which has oversight of the DME.
The DME offers three classes of membership: Floor, Off-Floor
and Clearing Members. In addition, the DME has selected a
number of Market Makers. Trading on the Exchange is not limited to Members.
Floor Members: are Members who own one or more Floor Membership Privilege(s) and
physically occupy one or more of the 50 seats
located on the DME's trading floor.
Off-Floor Members: have the right to access and to trade on
the Trading Platform off the Exchange Floor, subject to all applicable laws and regulations.
Clearing Members: All current NYMEX Clearing Members are able to apply for
DME Clearing Membership to clear DME transactions.
Clearing Members also have the right to access and
to trade on the Trading Platform off the Exchange Floor,
subject to all applicable laws and regulations.
Market Makers: The DME has approved certain firms that have applied to
act as a Market Maker.
Membership criteria include the necessity for
any applicant to have a futures account with a Clearing Member.
For those Members that are located on the floor of the DME, there
is a requirement to be established in the
DIFC and to be authorised
or otherwise permitted by
the
DFSA to conduct the activities which it
intends to conduct while trading on the Exchange.
