Matthew Thompson, Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer
Matt Thompson has over ten years experience in the
petroleum industry focused largely on strategy
development and operational improvement. Matt’s core
expertise is across the mid and downstream sectors of
the industry including refining, supply & trading,
freight/logistics and marketing. Prior to joining the
DME, Matt worked in the petroleum practice of McKinsey
and Company for 7 years most recently as an Engagement
Manager. In this position Matt led projects across the
globe for a variety of clients including oil majors,
NOCs, private equity players and independents. Recent
projects included supply and trading optimization for a
European NOC, China entry strategy for an international
major, corporate portfolio management for an Asian NOC
and downstream expansion opportunity development for a
Middle Eastern national oil company.
Matt has also worked for Elf Oil UK as pricing co-ordinator
and for Petroleum Economics Limited as a market analyst.
Matt holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University
of Sussex.
